A third fatality in the' Lyttelton tunnel within ten weeks, occurred hut night, when a woman of 12 (the wife of a Christchurch resident), who hail escaped from Sunnyside Mental Hospital at 4.3o'in the afternoon, received terrible injuries from which she died | in the Christchurch Hospital. AA’hen j last seen the woman was standing on j the platform just as the 5.25 train j from ‘Christchurch left Hcatheote to enter the tunnel.
At the inquest to-day, the Aledieal Superintendent of Sunnyside gave evidence that the woman probably suicided. as she lull shown suicidal tendencies. The inquest was adjourned. The stone of completion of the Fapatoetoc Orphans’ Home was placed in position on Saturday by the GovernorGeneral, as Grand Master of the New Zealand Masonic Grand Lodge, with full Masonic honours. Tlie A hi.sons have played a large part in raising funds for completing the building, which now can accommodate 100 orphans.
