TO WESTLAND DAIRY FARMERS nnilE PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS of tlie above Company, re- *- speetfully notify ail whom it may concern, that the butter factory is to be erected in Hokitika, and will be in readiness to commence operations for the coming’ season on tlie Ist September, 1923. A few of the objects of the Company are as follows: Rutter or cheese making, cool storage of goods and dairy produce for transmission to Christchurch markets, manufacture and sale of ice, fish and meat freezing, and the establishment of a modern city milk supply for ihc town of Hokitika. Such propositions are quite beyond the scope of the ordinary Co-operative dairy factory, more especially when less advantageously situated to important railway communication with densely populated centres, and are the outcome of careful expert consideration. Hokitika, with all its great possibilities is eminently suitable for the Company’s undertakings and is also ideally situated for centralisation of Westland’s dairy and agricultural productions. Now that the tunnel is completed a new era of prosperity is assured for the coming “Taranaki of the South."’ The Company will he managed partly on co-operative and partly on proprietary lines, Ihe producer-shareholders holding the balance of power. Such a system whilst possessing all Hie advantages of co-operation will also additionally share with the initiative spirit so noticeable in all successful proprietary concerns. It is almost unnecessary to state that profits accruing from (lie various operations and side lines will very materially help io increase the price lo he paid for farm products, and centralisation, as is well known all ihe world over, considerably reduces Iho cost of production. It, can he truly said that never in the history of farming in Westland lias such a unique opportunity for superior co-operation in respect to factory mailers, been presented to the settlers. It will lie noticed the Company’s operations in addition to being in the host, interests of the farmers, will henotU the district as a whole, and fill an urgent and long fell want. Respectful exertions are now hieing made with a view leading to the combination of all local country factories, without loss to their shareholders and suppliers. Such co-operation it is unnecessary to slate would make the scheme a greater success, and in addition fulfil the wishes of a vei.v large majority of their financial supporters. bull information may he obtained on application to the following provisional directors:— Messrs W. A. Jamieson, 11. ilarcourt and H. 11. Monk (Kofiterangi). J. H. Cropper (Waitahaj, J. 15. Douglas (Arahura), Jas. Thomson (Ross), I). J. Evans and J. J. Mclntosh (Hokitika). A cope of the prosneetus may be seen at the office of the Registrar. H. T. PARRY, Alana.giiig Direetor.
