HOKITIKA FIRE BRIGADE
TUESDAY, MAY loth. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting was hold at 8 p.m. Present: Supt. Braddon, Deputy Supt. Davidson and 21 members. The minutes were confirmed and outward ccDespondence was approved. The Treasurer’s balance sheet showed receipts £7l 2s Od ami expenditure £O9 10s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £1 os 2d. —Received and adopted. The various foremen reported the gear gemmed I v to be* in fair order, some alterations being authorised to the steam engine, following the report of Fireman Findlay.
.Mr A. Laughton after serving a probationary term, was elected a member of tin: Brigade. The United Fire Bi igade Association forwarded a copy of the annual conference report and ballot pat er to vote on for where the next conferemc should lie held, the places that . had extended invitations being Ilnkitika Palmerston North and Rotorua. The Brigade decided net to vita, bat to leave it to the other Brigades to decide.
ft was resolved that a committee consisting of the officers of the Brigade i-A appointed to gather the necessary information to place before the citizens if Hokitika was soleclei as the place for the Conference. Members reported on their uniforms as fairly good. It was resolved to apply To the Fire Board Hr three new helmets. SUPER LVI EX DENT’S REPORT. In reviewing the work of the Brigade during the past year it becomes my pleasant duty to again compliment you 011 the excellent attendance at practice musters and at fires, and 1 desire to say. that it is most gratifying to me to see members take so whole-hearted an interest in maintaining the efficiency of our Brigade. The fire calls lor the year uoio slightly below the average, and fortunately tile loss by lire was very low indeed. I will take this opportunity to com lliment the team who represented us at the Fire- Brigades’ Demonstration held in Dunedin last February.
