WEDNESDAY! WEDNESDAY! PRINCESS THEATRE! EVELYN GREELEY in— EVELYN CREELEY in— A SPECIAL COMEDY DRAMA “PHIL FOR SHORT.” “PHIL FOR SHORT.” THURSDAY: —COR.INNE GRIFFITH IS "THE SINGLE TRACK." A story of love and adventure. Rig suporting series. THE WESTLAND COOL STORAGE and DAIRY Coy., Ltd. (Duly Incorporated under the Companies Act). CAPITAL £15.000. TO WESTLAND DAIRY FARMERS TUIE PROVISIONAL DIRECTORS of (lie above Company, rex spectfully notify ail whom it may concern, that the butter factory is to be erected in Hokitika, and will be in readiness to commence operations for the coming l season on the Ist September, 1923. A few of the objects of the Company are as follows: Butter or cheese making 1 , coo] storage of goods and dairy produce for transmission to Christchurch markets, manufacture and sale of ice, fish and meat freezing, and the establishment of a modern city milk supply for the town of Hokitika. Such propositions are quite beyond the scope of the ordinary Co-operative dairy factory, more especially when less advantageously situated to important railway communication with densely populated centres, and are the outcome of careful expert consideration. Hokitika, with all its great possibilities is eminently suitable for the Company’s undertakings and is also ideally situated for centralisation of Westland’s dairy and agricultural productions. How that the tunnel is completed a new era of prosperity is assured for the coming “Taranaki of the South.” The Company will be managed partly on co-operative and partly on proprietary lines, the producer-shareholders holding the balance of power. Such a system whilst possessing all the advantages of co-operation will also additionally share with the initiative spirit so noticeable in all successful proprietary concerns. It is almost unnecessary to state that profits accruing from the various operations and side lines will very materially help to increase the price to he paid for iarm products, and centralisation, as is well known all the world over, considerably reduces the cost of production. It can be truly said that never in the history of farming in Westland has such a unique opportunity for superior co-operation in respect to factory matters, been presented to the settlers. It. will be noticed the Company’s operations in addition to being in the best interests of the farmers, will benefit the district as a whole, and fill an urgent and long felt want. Respectful exertions are now being made with a view leading to the combination o'f all local country factories, without loss to their shareholders and suppliers. Such co-operation it is unnecessary to state would make the scheme a greater success, and in addition fulfil the wishes of a veiy large majority of their financial supporters. Full information may be obtained on application to the following provisional directors:— Messrs W. A. Jamieson, R. Harcourt and IT. H. Monk (Koiterangi), J. 11. Cropper (AVaitaha), .T. B. Douglas (Aralmra),, Jus. Thomson (Ross), I). J. Evans and J.' J. Mclntosh (Hokitika). A copy of the prospectus may be seen at the office of the Registrar. H. T. PARRY, Managing Director.

TO THE MISTRESS OF THE HOUSE. DEAR MADAM,—Do you ever realise the increased comfort to the entire household—yourself included—that would he secured by the adoption of gas fires? Have you ever contemplated the amount of labour spent, to say nothing of the time wasted, by the maids in carrying coals, cleaning grates laying fires, coaxing stubborn tires into a blaze and keeping them going when lighted? If you adopt gas (ires you will not only lighten the household work immensely but. your rooms will be cleaner, healthier and more comfortable. You can exactly control the heat required at any given time in any given room. Bedrooms become pleasanter (and safer) resorts in bitter weather. The half hour’s dressing for dinner, the undressing at night after leaving a cosy sitting room, can be done in comfort and safety—and at leisure. To economise in the gas consumed is easy. When, after dinner, you leave the dining room out goes tile fire, to lie lighted in the drawing room, or study o" billiard room. And so throughout the day, the fire travels from room to room ” by the simple turning on and elf of taps. Consider how habitable these gas fires make every room in the bouse ' Half the dust in your living rooms comes from the coal tire—there i.s no dust with a gas lire. No work is entailed—no fire irons, coal scuttles or shovels to trouble about, no smoke, dirt or ashes to cause annoyance—no noisy poking or replenishing to disturb and irritate. That is why the gas fire is ideal for the sick room. Certainly the gas fire is the housewife’s best friend—it’s only rival the gas cooker! We are dear Madam Yours faithfully, HOKITIKA GAS COY., LTD., Stafford Street.
