WESTLAND COUNTY ELECTIONS.
■ELECTION OF MEMBERS. The polling for the election of nine members to represent three ridings of the Westland County Council took place yesterday, and the results were made known last evening by 8 o’clock. A fair amount of interest was shown in the election. In the northern riding the three sitting members were elected, the fourth candidate, Mr Jellio running Mr Duff fairly close for third place. In the Central Riding, of the three sitting candidates, two, Messrs C.hcsterman and Wells were returned, Mr Morel being displaced by Air Keenan. In the Southern riding, Mr Jeffries, tlio only sitting member returned, was placed at the top of the poll, with Hon. J. Grimmond (a former member of tile -Council, wln> was defeated at the last election) placed second, and Mr Scarle (who finished fourth last election) in third place, while Mr Chinn (a sitting member who sought re-election) was defeated somewhat substantially.
