WINTER SCHOOL.

ARRANGEMENTS WELL ADVANCED. The lion. Secretary (Mr J. W. Morris) of the Westland Branch of the Canterbury Progress League, lias been advised by Iho Canterbury College authorities ami the New Zealand Agricultural Department that the local requirements in respect to lectures for the Westland Winter School will be well met. The period of the School will he from Monday, .I line 25th, to Friday, .Tun? 20th, and the following lecturers will be visiting Hokitika for the occasion.

From the Agricultural Department Messrs Cockayne, Staflord, Gorringe Waul, and Tied ford.

From Canterbury College: Professors Shellev and CondlifTc.

The presence of the above gentlemen will ensure a series of most informative addresses on farming and allied topics, and should result in the School being one of the best organised for the purpose in mind. The desife is to assist the settlers with tlie latest- and best advice on the care ot stock and the cultivation of lodder, together with tho economic management ot the farm.

The lecturers suggested will cover a wide range of subjects bearing oil farm life, the rearing and handling of stock, and the improved cultivation <>l tne land to secure the best results in lodder production. The School will afford an exceptionally good opening l<> the farming community in particular who should make it a point of attending the session in force and becoming closely interested in tlie proceedings. The general lectures which the Professors will give will lie of public import also, and should add to the special value of the course of instruction. .Many of the lectures will be illustrated, which will add greatly to their educational value by reason of the special instruction thereby conveyed. Tickets for the full course of the School are fixed at 10s, which will cover a set-tiers’ family, so that the Westland Progress League is doing mi excellent service in organising so fine a series of first class addresses at so reasonable a charge.
