ADDJNCTON STORK MARKET, BETTER PRICES OBTAINED. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday; Store sheep.—A small yarding and a decided improvement all round. Rest sound-month ewes up to 3()s (id, others from 22s to 275, rape lambs from 17s to
22s Gd, others from 14s; a few good shorn lambs to 15s Pd; wethers 20s to 25s ; best 2-tooth ewes up to 345. Store cattle.—A large yarding, but mostly of nondescript lots. There was one really good Fine of 2 and 3-yr. heifers passed at £4. Competition Importers was keen blit other classes were unchanged. Three and 4-vr. old steers £■! to £4 17s Gd, 2-yr steers at £2 10s to £2 17s 6(1; yearlings 20s to 30s; heifers, 2-yrs. to 2J-yrs. £2 10s to £3 ss; yearlings £1 15s to 40s; tows 15s to 35s. ‘ Beef.—There was a fairly large yarding, comprising about 40G head, including some excellent lines of station ealtle. The market all round showed a decided improvement on last week, averaging about 25s to 30s per head better. As the sale progressed, the market improved. Prime steers £lO to £l3 10s,, extra to £ls 7s : medium £7 os to £!) 15s, others £ 4 10s to £7; prime heifers £6 to £9, others £4 to £5 15s; prime cows £5 to £8 7s Gd, others £2 10s to £4 15s. Fat pigs.—There was an exceptionally large yarding of porkers and baconers, a. large portion of the yarding being unfinished, but anything good brought satisfactory prices. Light porkers £2 to £2 8s; heavy £2 10s to C2 15s; average price 7d to Sd per lb. Light baconers £3 Gs to £3 10s, heavy C 3 15s to £4. extra heavy to £4 10s,. average price Gd to 7d per II). Store pigs.—A very large yarding was brought forward, tho majority comprising wcaners and small stores. The demand was slow and sales were difficult to make. Yaluos were: Wcallers 3s to Bs, extra to 12s Gd ; small stores 10s to 15s, medium 25s to 30s, and large stores to 38s. Mutton.—There was a fairly large wilding, hut mostly of ewes. Owing to the hatchers operating sparingly at last week’s sale they were practically (lear at the ahbatnirx and consequently prices were hound to soar, and so the market all round was anything from Is (id to 4s Gd above last week’s rates and towards tlie end ol tlie sale showed a sharp increase. Prime wethers 29s to 33s 3(1, extra 39s -Id; medium 25s to 28s Gd; prime ewes 23s Gd to 29s Gd. extra to 345, others 14s lOd to 235. Lambs.—Another small yarding, but sonic excelent quality lambs were yarded, mid prices al [round were generally easier. To-day prices are equal to 9d. per lb. overall.
