AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. FOREIGNERS IN TURKEY. LAUSANNE, May 1. The Turks asked at the conference that they should have the power to limit the number of foreigners entering Turkey and practising professions such as lawyers and doctors. This point was conceded, on condition that all acquired rights would lie preserved. The Turks attempted to secure the suppression of a treaty article in which Turkey had engaged to assure to foreigners adequate justice in the Turkish courts. The Allies refused to entertain the proposition. Ismet Pasha said he thought that he could agree to the article, provided it were differently drafted.
