THE WESTMINSTER. GLEE SINGERS. PRINCESS THEATRE TO-NIGHT At the Princess Theatre to-night tk~ Westminster Glee Singers appear lor one night only. Referring to a recent programme, the Auckland “Star” says:—Mr Edward Braiiseombe’s Westminster Glee Singers gave the initial concert of the season before a large and highly interested gathering of lovers of music. The performance was very enjoyable, and everybody departed from the concert delighted with the beautiful singing of the lmys. the intelligent j eriorimiiice of the ballads by the adult voices, and the finished rendering of the concerted music. A warm welcome was given the singers upon their entry, and though the programme was a lengthy one ol sixteen numbers, so charmed were the listeners that tlie programme items had to be increased to double the number. The ’combination consists of six soprano boys, one male alto, three tenors, and two basses. Very great interest wn« taken in the singing of the hoys, which is perhaps the most popular feature ol the party, whilst the alto, Mr Donald Reid, who creates a beautiful flutelike tone of pure timbre, which brightens the entire quality of the sound of the choir in ensemble, also proved a ,uo v.b'vv because of fbe> scarcity ol counter-tenors in the Dominion. To hear this fine combination sing proved a revelation, the music presented was of the purest nature, and interpretations were secured of the items which I were fine examples of artistic singing i,ikl intelligent musicianship. Beats may lie reserved at Misses Mclntosh’s. RGcLEAN‘B PICTURES. pa'i rv ar buckle, fridav.
