It i,s •moiltioiu'd. that provision is made in the Public Trust Office Acts for the debiting of losses made by the staff in the course of the administration of estates. The Profit and Loss Account for the year ending March 31st. last shows that the sum required to meet sucti losses for the year was £6l only, though the total value of the estates under administration exceeded £25,000,000. The profits of the office for the year—a time of very difficult fitta nc ial con d i t ion s—were £11,053, after concessions amounting to £57,500 had been made to the estates and funds under administration Out of the profits for successive years, substantial reserves have been built up.
