lIA NX AX WINS ON A FOUL. ' [by TEI.F.GKAFII —I'Ell PRESS ASSOCIATION.] NELSON, April 28. The sculling race between Felton and Hainan for the Australasian Championship was rowed this afternoon on Nelson Harbour in perfect weather, there being not a ripple on tlie water. There was a fair attendance. The distance was, three miles. Acting under medical advice, Felton approached the committee with a view to having the sculling race postponed for a week. The committee decided they had no control over the matter. They referred it to the competitors’ themselves. After a conference between the scullers, conditions as to a postponement could not be agreed to. and it was decided to row the race as originally intended. Felton, who rowed against medical advice, finished very tired, but Hannan was quite fresh again when he reached his quarters. Felton passed the finishing post about three feet in front, but Hannan claimed a foul, and he got the verdict. Felton, rowing a slower, hut stronger stroke than his opponent, assumed the lead after the first 200 yards, and led all the way. He started with 31 strokes to the minute, against Hannan's 3b and at the end nf the first mile he was rowing 23 io his opponent’s 25. j At the ond ot a mile and a-li.ilf, | however.
