A NOTABLE CRIMINAL.
(Received this day at 10.15 a.m.) PARIS, April 20. Detectives in London and Paris are in close (ominunieatioii regarding Warren and his associates. Warren who i~ aLo known as Captain Smith, has a wooden leg, having lost his own at Fassehendaelle. When the police were last oil his track, he slipped away in an aeroplane to London. Later he swindled a tourist agency in Rome out of JL'MOOiI, hy insuring phantom trunks to Paris, at a cost of “7. YY’hen he arrived at Paris he claimed the full value of the missing luggage. "Captain Smith" is known to the American police in connection with running a fraudulent hank in St Louis. Other charges are arriving from New Zealand. Copenhagen, Pittsburg and London.
