We regret to record the death of an old and esteemed resident of Kanieri, .Mrs Caroline liergmann, who passed away last night after an illness of some duration. Deceased was 110 years nf age, and a popular figure in the township for many years. Her husband deceased her some 12 years ago. She leaves a family of six—three daughters, Mrs K. McKay of Ross, and Misses Lena and Millv Bergmatin at Kanieri). and three sons (William and Louis in Christchurch, and John at Kanieri). Many friends will ex-

Residents of Kokatalii are stirring themselves again over the matter of a new public hall, and a meeting has been called for to-morrow (Friday) evening at 8 o’clock to discuss the question of a site.
