He, however, got. on to the wrong station, just in time to see the Dunollie train leaving, about S o’clock. Thinking that he had missed his train, he walked on, and came unexpectedly to the parapet, falling down about 1 2 feet, over on to the rocks and breaking his ankle, lie slated that he was in the water some time, swimming down with the current. At last he found a “stringer, and hung on, shouting tor help, meanwhile. Air Robert Campbell, an engine driver, heard his cries and came to his assistance. With the help of this man and others, who arrived on the scene, Mr Flanagan was pulled from the water, lie was taken to the hospital, in the ambulance, where he i- progressing favourably. Mr Flanagan i> a single man. residing at Beach Street, Hokitika, and formerly resided at South Spit. Hokitika. He has been a miner and took part in many of the early rushes, lie has lived on the Coast lor the past four years. Of late lie has become enfeebled with flit advance ol years, and bis sight i- mil as good as it lias been. A very genial old gentleman, be is a favourite with till who know him. and his many friends will wish him a speedy recovery.
