FLOWERS FOR REMEMBR ANTE

Airs G. A. Perry, the -Mayoress', has convened a meeting of ladies for 3.30 o’clock at the Town Hall to-morrow afternoon to make preparations for the sale of flowers of remembrance to ho worn on Anzac Day. Imitation pappies made hy tho children in the devastated areas of France will he sold here prior to A irate Day. The money raised will in the first instance go towards payment for the poppies, and an annual donation will lie made to the Veterans’ Home in New Zealand. Tito balance, less expenses, will he refunded to the districts raising the money, for the benefit of an unemployed fund for Returned Soldiers where the local bodies or other organisation subsidise the amount l' for £. . Bast year a net sum of about CGI was returned to Hokitika for the benefit of unemployment in this district. The sale this year should he as satisfactory, if not more so. All ladies willing to help are invited to attend the meeting. District schools which will co-operate in Hie sale of the poppies in the country are requested to notify Airs Perry, and a supply of poppies will he sent out. The same request applies to any willing workers in the country districts who will kindly co-operate in the sale of the poppies in the out-districts. A good attendance of ladies is looked for at the meeting to-morrow afternoon for the philnntrophio work in hand.
