ATHLETIC AND CYCLING SPORTS.
A SUCCESSFUL GATHERING
The Hokitika Cycling and Athletic Club held a very successful sports gathering on Cass Square yesterday afternoon. There was perfect weather, a warm sunny afternoon after the recent changeable days proving very welcome, and as a result tlie attendance was large, including many visitors. 'The sports proved very interesting throughout, and were closely followed '! i.e various officials were attentive to their duties and the various events were got off in good time. There were a couple of spills in the cycle events. Best coming down twice, but no serious damage was done. Tlie Town Band was present and played a number of selections, while some side shows helped to pass away the time between the events. The results arc as follows:
