Hucoiim’s Postal Munni.K. Sir Joseph Ward was not in office, nor in Parliament, when two penny postage was imposed. The two peony rate was imposed by the present Post-master-General, Air Coates, Air Ala--ey being tin: head of the Government. At the same time the cost of telegraphing was increased by more than of I per cent. At the end of the financial Mar in which these ‘‘reforms” were brought ill, the Post and Telegraph Depart inent’s accounts showed a uefioit. Air Coates at the present moment lias Hie whole of the country unanimous in protesting against a proposal to substantially increase the telephone charges. Truly, the country is in real need of the services of the brilliant Postmaster-General and stav.-mv-r.. whom Mr Mas-,ey is striving -o hard to defeat in the present hy-e'ection.
