Mis Diiian Knox. a young and beautiiul widow who i- slated to po>-e~ a fortune of more than t2,UCO,OW, was arrested yesterday at her country estate ill Texas and charged with the murder on November ‘Jo of hoi aged husband Hiram Knox. one ol tlie li-li-e>t iiif 11 in the state. The arrest lias caused much stir, for Mis Knox was widely known and beloved because oi her philanthropic activities and lavish hospitality. During the later years of her husband's life she built 'he Bronson and Hemphili Kailway to gratify the wishes of her country neighbours. I*or their entertainment she frequently engaged theatrical companies, whom she imported from distant towns oil her own, railway in order that they might perform at her private residence. Site acted as general manager of her husband’s many lumber mills. Mr Knox was found dead in bed on November 25, with n bullet through the brain. The police pronounced the case as cue of suicide.
