SYDNEY, March 15. The Qn ernsland Labour movement, if it had its own way, would abolish altogether the ollice of State Governor. I'he Constitution stands in the way, however. This: was agreed to at the recent State Labour Conference at Rockhampton. One delegate wanted to “go the whole ling," and moved for tho abolition of tlm office. On the advice of the Rremier < .Mr Theodore). however, this wis not carried out. MV Theodore pointed out that it was impossible of achievement. In the present cirenm.stanres there was no power in Queensland to do it. if they passed an Act to-day it would have to he reserved for the assent of the Imj . rial authorities. He had taken up the question with the Imperial authorities in 11)20. and had been informed that whenever the Australian States decided on choodug meal Governors the Imperial anthont'es would agree to it. At present ‘.lmy had the following alternatives; they could appoint Imperially-appointed Governors or a Governor locally chosen, or. as in Canada have Governors appointed hy the Governor-General.
