Ollivier accounted for Peacock in the singles after an uneventful match, wherein Peacock failed to accurately gauge the effect of a strong wind. Sims and Peach engaged in a stubborn contest of almost three hours, and were three games all in the fifth set. Sims, whose display fluctuated throughout, offered only a feeble r<s si stance in the concluding three games. Peach winning the set fi— 3. Peacock and Ollivier easily won their heat in the doubles.
