It was mentioned recomlv that the II ikitikii Gas Coy. Ltd would < .dehrate its golden jubilee in May. It was away hack in May 1874 that the Company was formed mainly with local capital. Tin, Company was launched with great enthusiasm, and has been going ever sirne, rendering faithful service lor live decades. The calorific quality of the local gas is above that of tbe average service in the Dominion, a fact which makes the local service a tea - suitably cheap one. For all domestic purposes gas is a very handy servant, whether for cooking heating or lighting, while for power purposes it has special recommendations. Ga.s appliances are now so varied that the uses are adaptable in many ways on a most economic basis. It. will pay the householder to consult the gas fitter as to the service and appliances for installation in the home, and for affording that degree of comfort hitherto undreamt ~f" The local gas service has proved very reliable always and is in as good a ixisition as ever nowadays to continue rendering the best possible service to consumers.
