With the exception of Sims the whole team failed to draw blood. The speed of the local players were superior to the visitors, whilst the all-round brilliancy of 4lie Metropolis plainly disclosed the comparative inferiority of the New Zealand standard. Anderson easily won the first set against Sims and was not all out in the .second set. wherein Sims excelled himself annexing it before his opponent realised it. Anderson, with excellent driving, easily disposed of Sims in the third set. Peacock and Ollivcr gave early promise against Henderson and North and held tile advantage for the first few games. I’eacoek’s overhead work was a feature of the display hut his partner was inclined to lie patchy, intermingling terrilio smashes with listless attempts at volleying. Henderson and Norili previously defeated Sims and France, the former executing line shot-', at the net and the latter performing Ibe lion's share of baseline plav. RESULTS-SINGLES.
