Dr Tillvnrd secured several excellent specimens. Ho was astonished to find them at Mount Cook at this time of the year. The discovery is of great importance to scientists.

The weather conditions lor to-day's Westland A. and I’. Show are of the most unfavourable nature. Yesterday there was heavy rain, while a wild norwester lilew throughout the night accompanied by beavv showers. Ibe weather cleared at daylight, but there was a heavy downpour at 10 a.m. for nearly an hour, and since then light rain lias been falling. The Show is being carried on. however, in spite of the unfavourable conditions, the expected attendance suffering considerably. Our report will appear to-morrow.

With reference to a dispute between the Public Works Department and five men at the Waitangi River formation, Mr J. O'Brien, M.l’., wired the Minister of Public Works as follows:—'Labour dispute at Waitangi Bridge over smoko. Two men dismissed; four o'.uers won’t resume work until they are reinstated. Men were promised live weeks’ work when engaged: Alter careful enquiry I consider (lie dispute trivial. Strongly advise men Ih‘ reinstated. and enquiry held later. The work ;= very important, and it is a shame to hold it till over a trivial dispute. Understand the men are all ready to resume on the terms laid down bv the Public Works Department overseer.” Last evening the following reply was received from the .Minister: "Telegram regarding dismissal oi two men at the Waitangi Bridge received.
