Mr Gale (President of New South Wales branch of the A-1 ronomieal Association) referring to the cabled sudden increased brilliance ol the star Beta ( iti says alter observations on Saturday night he found the star quite normal. There was a mistake on the other side of the world, the Beta being probably eonlused wit:i Mars, which is in the adjoining eoristallation. The Government a-l 'ouoinor Cooke concurs.
