A meeting for the purpose of estab- j lishing a branch of the British and ; Foreign Bible Society for Hokitika was held in Kt Andrew’s Hall on Tuesday, Kelt. 27th. Rev I’. B. Eraser presided over a large gathering of ladies and after prayer welcomed all present and introduced Rev A. T. Thompson, Dominion See., and Sister Agnes, Sec- for Westland. In the opening remarks of his address Mr Thompson paid a warm tribute to Mr R. .McKenzie, who for many years has worked in the interests of the Bible Society. Mi Thump-on then spoke on many aspects of the Society's world-wide work and pointed out how it st<ux] at tie the hack of all missionary work a the 1 ii>inc base and abroad, and how it was seeking not- only the moral no ; spiritual unity of the race, hut ns moral and spiritual uplift as well. 11l '...TT languages.
