THE FUNERAL OBSEQUIES. fBY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION] AUCKLAND. Feb. 27. The interment of Sir M »i. Hcrries cremated remains took place at Fe Aroint yesterday. There was a large assemblage at the railway station as the train arrived. The casket was escorted along the platform followed by the Prime Minister as chief mourner, and besides members of the Cabinet and both Houses of Parliament, also in attendance were Sir Joseph Ward, Sir Frederick Lang, the late Minister’s private secretaries Messrs Johnson and Balneavis, representatives of the Go-vernor-General and Railways and other departments that Sir W. Herries had controlled; also all local bodies in the district, sports and other associations. The procession passed from the station t/> St. Marks Anglican Church, where a brief hut beautiful ceremony was conducted by Archdeacon Cowie, an old friend of the deceased. At the graveside Rev. Connolly, vicar of St. Mark's with the burial service. The procession to the cemetery was a mile long, and was headed by the Municipal Band and Fire Brigade. Many beautiful wreaths were laid on the grave.
