, At the meeting of the Board held on Friday at Christchurch the following business of West Coast interest was done:

Appointments:—Miss 11. B. Brown, assistant, one year, Greyniouth; Miss Mary Bruce, assistant .mistress, Hokitika: Miss M. K. Wilson, assistant, one year, ,Hokitika; Donald Carr, pupil teacher, Greyniouth ; C'hristinia Knight probationer. Greyniouth: Alex Aitkin, probationer, Hokitika: Myra Median, probationer, Hokitika; Jno. Fitzgerald probationer, Hunanga; Dorothy Lmnaidson, probationer. Tnylorville. Nancy Smeaton, probationer. Camerons ; Doreen Daley, probationer. Blackball ; Miss Fliza Diiggaln. assistant, one year. Hunanga. To fill the position ol Ist Assistant at Hokitika, it was agreed to advertise for an assistant master instead of mistress. The local member of the' Appointment Commit We. and the Inspector are to make the best arrangements possible for relieving in the meantime. Attendance.—Mr White reported that since the opening of the schools on February Ist tlm attendance had been very fair. Conveyance of children.—The solicitors reported that in the ease of children when conveyance was arranged by the parents, neither the Board nor the school committee's would be responj sible in the case of accident.

'■’inniu-e. — The Committee-' reported a. net credit balance on all accounts £10.322 12s Od and accounts for £5.005 7s Od were passed for payment. Gammach Scholarships.—The thre-o pupils entitled to this belonged to the Timaru Boys’ High School, hut they not accepting the scholarship, it was passed to the next three highest, of whom, one is from thi- lima.ru Boys High School, and two from Christchurch Girls’ High School. Goddon Memorial Medals were awarded to W. S. If. Wick. 385. Greymouth District- High School, and Rose Haisty. 385. St Mary’s. Greymouth.
