WEST COAST CHAMPIONSHIPS. HOKITIKA WIN RINKS. (Argus.) WF.TSPORT, February 16. A big crowd of spectators witnessed the filial rinks match played this afternoon, between the following rinks: Buck, Moss, Wise and Blair (skip) Greymouth, and Blank. King, Thompson and Benjamin (skip) of Hokitika. The latter team won by 26 to 20. play commenced at two o’clock and ended at five. The nineteenth round of the match became very exciting. — — The score was Benjamin 17, Blair 16, The umyire was called upon to decide whether the jack was burned or not. He declared the jack alive, whereupon Benjamin made a beautiful drive. Tho last head favoured Benjamin. It.was a popular win, and was received ’•i-tli great applause. President Tulloch called on Mrs Turlock, who presented Hokitika with tho clip. Three of the men in the present team were among the. winners ot the rinks cup at last tournament. Hokitika took tho lead, and at tile tenth head tho score was 0 to 7. on the 16th bead 16 to 8; then Grey got two tlireos and two singles x -» making the score 16 all, two singles In Hokitika and then Grey were in a good position till Thompson trailed and lay on Kitty, the attempt to burn tlii' head failing, and Hokitika won by 20 to 16. Tlie winners were accorded an ovation by a large assemblage. The team left for home this morning.
