The Canterbury Progress League lots is>ued a very neatly printed illustrated folder calling attention to holiday resorts in Canterbury, and affording much general information regarding Christchurch. The publication is n credit to the Lyttelton Times Coy., which has produced the little work well compiled by Air P. 11. Climie. the Organiser of the League. There is going to be a record dairying season for the whole ot the hay of Plenty, says the Auckland "Star. It is the best season for grass ever experienced. A new butter factory is now being built on the Ilangitaiki .River at Hiverslea, which will cost C13.0U1. Dairying is making wonderful strides, and iii" question of a grading port at Whakatune is now being considered.
Ragwort is spreading i hroughout the Taranaki district, and is liecoming a. very serious menace indeed (says the "Herald”). On some farms there are quite large areas covered with the pest ; others have but a few plants, comparatively speaking, but- apparently little attempt is being made to got rid of any of it. The ragwort is now in full bloom and unless immediate action is taken to effectively destroy both the plants and seeds then the consequences will be disastrous, it is difficult to understand why farmers will allow the first low plants appearing oil their property to seed, hut litis is what usually happens, with the result that the Whole country will soon lie overrun unless sum odrasiio action is taken.
