Tararua’s Australian mails and English letters via Suez and Brindisi were landed at Hokitika and will be brought to Christchurch by the coach due <ut Wcduesdity evening. The Archdeacon of Westland. At a meeting of the vestry of the Church of All Saints, Hokitika, the following resolution was unanimously adopted: “That Litis meeting, having heal'd the announcement made by the \ on Arciideaeon Harper that thq Bishop of Christchurch lias come to the conclusion that it will he for the benefit of the church that the archdeacon should accept. the incumbency of St. .Michael and All Angels at Christchurch, feels that, the removal of the archdeacon from Hokitika at the present time will prevent the completion of much necessary and most important work itt the parish begun and carried on by him. and considers that such removal will he in the highest degree detrimental to tlie interests of the church in this district, and earnestly requests that his Lordship will reconsider his decision.”
