A GOLDEN WEDDING.

Mr and All's Henry Karnbach old and respected settlers of Lower Kokatahi, celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday last, when there was an open house to all friends, who gathered from all parts of the district for the special occasion. The weather was not too favourable in the morning, but cleared as the day wore on and the attern.on and evening wore fine. There was a large gathering at lunch at the les'.da feature of the spread being a line wedding cake presented by their daughter (Alts H. Stapleton). Complimentary speeches followed, the speakers being Rev. A. C. Purclias, .Messrs .). Smith and P. Jones. During the afternoon there were races and games for the young people, while insule, music and songs were given, items being supplied by Airs Gumming (who was a bridesmaid to Airs Karnbach), Airs MeFadyen, .Misses Kanibaeh and Dredricli. Airs and Aliss Sclmef. Afternoon tea was handed round, there being liver one hundred visitors present. in the evening at 8 o'clock cars carried visitors and friends to the l’ub]jc ([all where a dame was held, AllNY. Dicdrioh taking Alas Karnbach, and Air G. Scliaef Air Karnbach. The latter on entering Me ball was shout dercil by a number of the young men and carried to llu* stage. The hall was over-crowded, there being a very large attendance from all parts ol the district. .Messrs S. Meharry. and J. McCormick had charge of the floor and tip. proceedings went right happily, music being provided by Airs Mor.is, Misses Sehaef and Shadholt (piano), Air J NY. Kelly (violin), Air AY- MeFadyen (piccolo)*, and Mr Christiansen (comet). During intervals, a plentiful supper was provided ami done full justice to white songs were rendered by M,s NY. Diedrichs, Aliss Kelly, Urn A • Jones, Mi Morris. Air MeFadyen, Air NYillianison, a step dime; Air I‘. McGregor, and a cornet solo by All Christiansen. Congratulatory speeches were made by Mr J. Fleming, and Air F. McGregor. The visitors then rose and sang “They are Jolly Good Fellows and then gave hearty cheers ini - 1 Mrs Karnbach, who loft for home a - a.m. The dancing was kept up ti 3.30 a.m. and everybody seemed to have had a real good enjoyable outing. Among the numerous and costly presents were cheques and a purse of sovereigns. The ball being too small to accommodate the people, was the only drawback to the whole celebration which passed off most enjoyable. Mr and Airs Karnbach have 0 daughters, 1 son. 32 grand children and one great grand child.
