Next morning the party left Ross in bright sunshine about 9 o’clock reaching Matainui in the afternoon where they camped in the school grounds tor tho night. day a large party i isited the glacier, im-hi ling many visitors at the hotel, unde, rim capable guidance '1 Ah Graham and others. 'I he day >'as showery, but the beauties of the iceheld were seen to advantage, and the \ isit was muck enjoyed, the sightseers lemming to their rump well tired out. The evening was spent at the hotel. Next day tho springs and other places of interest were visited, the day being wound up with a camp fire concert,

which attracted quite a large number and proved very enjoyable. At Waihw the party letoived unwelcome attentions from the voracious mosquitoes, and most of them bear marks ol the savage attacks made. The return was commenced on I'hursdav. Hari llari being reached that evening where a halt was made loi the night, a dance theie being participated in. The night was gloriously line but an extremely heavy gale blew that caused: the travellers to have some fears of their temporary home. Yesterday morning Hari Jiari was left behind and the party moved on leisurely the call of the bush in the vicinity of Lake lanthe causing the day to pass all too quickly. Hokitika was reached about 8 p.iu., one mvd all voting the outing a huge success and most enjoyable from every point of view.
