S U' ICTY FOR YOUR RSTATJi. No I.—Powers of the Public Trustee. The statutory powers conferred on the Public Trustee are much more extensive than thus*' possessed by a private trustee. Tlki Public Trustee is practically enabled to do all the things that an. owner could do, where the value of an asset does net exceed a certain specified amount. While a private trustee lias very offen to approach the Court for its authority to take some step in connection with the administration of an estate in his eare, the expense and delay are saved when the Public Trustee is administrator. Although possessed of much more liberty of action than a private trustee the Public Trustee consults the beneficiaries at every stage of the! administration, and he is largely guided by their wishes and advice, in all matters pertaining to the estate in which they arc interested. Moreover, being a public official the Public Trustee is available at all times to answer for his conduct, should a henoficiarv he dissatisfied with bis administration of an estate and in addition the Office enjoys the advantage of the State guarantee!. All persons placing their affairs in the hands of the Public Trustee may rest assured that the statutory powers which it is privileged to exercise are availed of only when it is lo the interest of their estates to do so, and as a rule with the approval of the benefi.-inrio* concerned. For full information applv to the Public Trustee Wellington, or to MR T. 11. SAYWKLI-, District Pubic Trustee. Grevmouth. A rtpresentalive of the Office is in attendance at Hokitika oil Fridays ,-ym! m -h ~h.' '
