The municipal baths were well patronised on Saturday afternoon, and swimming votaries pronounced the now water supply ns a great advance on the lake supply, the latter containing a quantity of vegetable matter, from which the artesian water is free. Doling the afternoon the well "as put do" n an additional two feet to a full depth of about 13 feet, improving the flow of water which it was not possible for the pump to keep down. |i is with regret that we record the dentil of another of the old pioneer settlers of South Westland in the person of Mrs Ritchie, wile of Mr John Ritchie of Park Street. and formerly of Bruce Bay. Deceased was a native of Comity Kerry. Ireland, and 81 years of age. For a considerable time past she had been in failing health. Deceased leaves a bereaved husband aiid family of Uvo soils (Robert in Bruce Bay and William iii Kditeringi) and three daughters (,Mrs Denis Movtiihnn in New South Males. Mrs W. I).
