(O) That we are of opinion that wheat is worth a minimum of os fid per bushel f.o.b. at too opening ol the season. In the afternoon, the conleronee "as continued, with the inclusion ol the merchants’ and millers’ representatives The merchants agreed to give support to the suggestion that the embargo on Australian flour be continued, and the demand that 5s fid f.o.b. be pud lor wheat at the beginning oi the season. The view of the millers was that if the Government could be induced to continue the embargo on Australian dour, there was no reason why a. satisfactory price should not bo obtained by the growers, but they suggested that the price of 5s fid would be absolutely dependent on a continuation of the Hour embargo. They urged the foundation of any arrangement should be a continuation of this embargo, and an assurance that the fritters who had to sell wheat for export, would be no worse off than those who sold to the millers. Tt was pointed ont. that if the Government wore forced to continue the Hour embargo it would prohaHy fix a price for flour and for hrond. The meel:in 2 decided that a joint Committee of all the interests involved should meet in Christchurch at n date to he fixed, to further discuss the matter. Tn the meantime the result of *,lie present conference is to ho forwarded to the Government, with a request for an expression of its policy in the matter.
