The death took place at Reeftnn this morning after a long illness ol Mr John Kin;;, a well-known miner of that district for many years, and a lormer captain of the Reefton Foothall Club ill the nineties. Deceased was a native ( ,f rteefton and about 50 years of tine.

Yesterday 71 State miners were charged before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., at Crcymouth Magistrate’s Court, with having taken part in an alleged illegal Strike, thereby breaking their agreement. The charge was brought hv Mr (J. !■’. Grieve 'lnspector of Labour! mi behalf of his Department, and from each miner a penalty ot (■'■> "as claimed. Mr Grieve said that Mr P. J. O'Regan, who was appearing for tlib defendants, was unable to he present for that day. He would therefore apply for an adjournment until Friday. This was granted.
