If the union decides to approach the owners, it is thought it will ask preference to he given to members. This would have the effect of compelling non-unionists at present on the ship to join the union, and would get liver the difficulty created by the refusal of the companies to dispense with the services of nmn who came to their assistance when the trouble arose.
