Rutherford’s “Rock Ahoy.” DR, LISTON AND CITY COUNCIL AUCKLAND, Dec 14. The City Council approved recent correspondence between the Mayor. Mr Gunson. and Dr Liston, tbe Roman Catholic co-adjutor Bishop of Auckland. concerning tbe resolution of Council on March 23rd last in respect of tlio Bishop’s speech in the Town Hall on the evening of St Patrick’s Day. Tn a letter last week. Dr Liston said “It is not my intention to resort to litgation, or to do anything which will accentuate or re-open old diflorenees.”

Tbe motion carried was:—-“That tho Council approves tlio correspondence, and deems tbe incident therein referred to as closed, and, with that end in view, tbe Council resolves that tbe resolution it passed on March 23rd.. 122. shall henceforth cense to have any operation.”
