POLLARD’S PICTURES. DOUBLE STAB, PROGRAMME. Tho management of tho Princess Theatre has secured as the next attraction “The, Truth about Husband” a screen version of Arthur Wing Pinero's brilliant society drama which held tlio boards for several seasons and has passed through many revivals because it is so popular in theme and so full of drama. It fairly snaps and sparkles with clever lines and tense situations. 11 is superbly mounted and splendidly enacted by a well balanced cast beaded by Anna Lehr. “The Truth about Husbands” tells of the life of men before marriage and paints this life with swift bald strokes, baring the truth in a way that holds the spectator fascinated to the conclusion. The second big attraction is a Vitagraph two-reel comodv “The Tall Guy,” starring the popular comedian Larry Semon, ana the latest l*athe Gazette completes a capital programme. - STRASBURG CLOCK. EXHIBITION. One evening in the year 1300, a tall middle-aged man knocked at the door of the Episcopal Palace in the ancient city of Strasburg. His face as ho waited for a reply to his timid summons betokened nervous anxiety, but when he was at Inst ushered into the presence of Berthold, the Lord Bishop he laid before the astonished prelat* parchments on which were plans and designs for a- marvellous clock. Tho stranger, who said he was a French monk, refused to disclose his name, even to the Bishop, but pledged to construct this wonderful machine, which would divide the years into their respective months, allotting to each its exact number of days, pointing out distinctly each day of the week, tho feasts and fasts of the church, the course and position of the heavenly bodies, and. in addition at a stated hour (12 o’clock each day), lifelike figures would appear portraying tbe procession of tbe twelve Apostles, tbe appearance of tbe Saviour, tbe visits of Satan etc. Tims tbe great clock of Strasburg was built, and ever since lias remained a wonder of tbe ages. Tbe wonderful model of tills clock, which is exact in every detail is now on view each afternoon and evening, concluding on Saturday at 10 p.m.. in Keller’s Sample Room. Hokitika.
