It was announced from Christchurch in one ~1 ilic local papers this morning. that a meeting of the newly elected Liberal Party was to bo held here to-dav. On enquiry, from Air T. Wilford. however, it was ascertained that the meeting was one of the executive of tho party only and that there was nothing ill connection with it s proceedings for publication. Ibe fact that noiit of the Liberal members labelled as “Independent” bad put. in an appearance was made tbe subject of some comment, when it was sugmnted a general meeting of the Baity had been called.
