The silver cup to he awarded to tho | owner of the winner of the “big man- 1 oy" at Hokitika race meeting—the Westland mile is e -sily the best, tro- j phy of its kind yet offered here. The . cup is of massive proportions and \on 1 effective design. The Cup itself stands thirteen inches high and in some nine : inches in diameter. It stands on a pedestal about six inches high, and the whole presents a very substantial looking award. The cup is on view in the window of Mr W. E. Williams. Revell Street, where it is naturally attracting considerable attention. The clip will he competed for on the second day of the local race meeting, Wednesday. December 27tli. There is a
strong entry for the principal race, and no doubt tin' public will witness anotlier very line contest for the valuable stake and trophy nwnided with the event. The cup is the gift of the 'Licensed'Victuallers who have again kindly subscribed for the cost, of the trophy which is always, year by year, a distinctive feature of the lo; a I meeting.
