Plans have been prepared, and sites been selected for the construction of wireless stations in Britain to commu nitrite with Hie Dominions and abroad, involving an expenditure of {.'2,1100,000. Sir Godfrey Isaacs, interviewed, announced that Marconi's have secured a contract to build a station at Montreal. and lie anticipates that licenses for British stations will he granted in a few days, and that work will begin immediately. He expects the chain to he completed within 13 months. REBEL RUSE DEFEATED. LONDON, Dee. S. Masquerading as medical students, an armed party visited Mercer’s Hospital, in' Dublin, and made a desperate attempt to rescue n patient under arrest. An armed sentry questioned the men, and would not allow the so-called students to enter the ward. A light began, in which the sentry was wounded, but tlit- prisoner was not rescued. The raiders made good their escape. BUSH TRAGEDY. BRISBANE, Dee. 10. A dreadful liu-h tragedy is reported froin Kilhuniie, near Toowoomba-.'Mrs Nobler cut the throats of her two daughters, aged three and five years. Then she attempted suicide by cutting her own throat. The girl aged three succumbed. The mother and the other daughter were taken to the hospital, and are in a critical condition. The "Evening Standard” points out that the new Labour Party consists of thiee .sections, the intelligeusia, possessing either private means or literary earning powers ; the trade union official-., drawing an extra CLEO a year; and the newest members. who have left their positions in business to enter politics. The last section are finding themselves hard hit. The latest suggestion is Ihe establishment, of ti residential club in order to reduce the poorer members’ London expenses.
