AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. FURTHER, REVELATIONS. • I’ABIS. December 5. M. D-iigne is protesting to the Deputies against the disqualification of Siki. He alleged it wa s arranged prior to his match against Carpentier that Siki should go down in the fourth round. Siki consented, because lie was told he would get plenty of money for a little training. In the second round, hearing the crowd cheer Carpentier. Siki suddenly realised he "as the better man. and decided To go in and win despite his manager’s warning of his arrangement. The Boxing Federation threatens to prosecute Daigne unless he can substantiate his accusation.
THE STORY SCOUTED. LONDON, December 5. .Mr Benison, one of the, judges of the Carpcntief-Siki. boxing match, writing to the “Daily Telegraph,” says:- -Siki’s new allegation is on all fours with his conduct since the match. T do not believe either Carpeatier or Descant ps would make such prior nrangements. T do know that- Carpentier, knowing Siki to be only a freakish wild man, did not train seriously. Alter tile first round, T felt that if Carpentier had taken himself seriously, he could have won in record time. The difference between the men was so great that everyone tittered. With those who shouted “fraud,” owing to the inequality, T agreed. Carpentier has since told me that ho felt that if he had done the proper thing and knocked out the nigger immediately, there would have been a riot on a large scale. Air Benison adds : —Carpentier therefore toyed with Siki. until lie received a clip on the jam, from which lie never recovered. That is the whole story of the fight. As T said before, a fightwith Siki is insufferable. This nigger is a second .Tack Johnson in every particular. There is no place for him in any ring.
