Tsitt. the oflicial Reform candidate, for the seat. The information was laid under Section 158 of the Leoisiature Act. 1908. This section reads as follows:—“Every person is liable to a line not exceeding £oo. or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, who at any time. between the issue of a writ and the close of a poll, publishes or exposes or causes to be published or exposed to public view any document or writing oi printed motter containing any untrue statement defamatory of any candidate and calculated to influence Unvote of any elector.” “’Hu, whole thing binges upon tinstatement by Mr Isitt that the T’.R.A. is paying my election expenses, stated Mr Andrews to-day.
