FLAME THROUGH WINDOW. ■Mrs Hearn, who was sweeping her kitchen in one of the cottages and whose arm was badly burnt, said a tongue of flame just shot through the window and caught her, but curiously enough it did not burn anything else in the room. Four fowls belonging to Mr Hearn were roasted alive, and the yard was strewn with the charred relics of a clothes line and a burnt perambulator Upstairs the flames had licked their way into a bedroom, some of the contents of which were damaged. Across the road in front of 14, Hol-land-terrace four-years-old Frederick Baker was playing happily. Suddenly the flames shot across and enveloped him. A relative rushed out of the hours on hearing his shrieks, hut before the child could he taken inside he was burnt badly on both legs and one arm. The works had been closed for some time and consequently there was nobody in them at the time.
