GENERAL ELECTION.
MR LYNCH’S CAMPAIGN. (Contributed). Nearly 70 electors were present nt a most enthusiastic political meeting held at Totara Flat to greet Mr J. D. Lynch last evening, including a large number of ladies. Mr Lynch referred with pride to the reception given to him everywhere by supporters and also those not yet on his side, but whom he hoped to convince. He stood as a West Coast candidate and an Independent and asked them to trust them and see whether some more progress could not be made on the Const than the stagnant condition of late years. The candidate urged the establishment of industries on the Coast and hoped that with the early completion of the Otira tunnel and the material benefits that would undoubtedly accrue to the travelling public and farmers railing stock to Addington that we have to see that the trade on that service docs not add more to the loss of £2,500 now being made by the railway. The candidate covered a tremendous lot of ground in a forceful fearless manner and was frequently loudly applauded by the cielighted audience. The enthusiastic meeting concluded by a very hearty vote of thanks proposed bv Mr Lennox. seconded by Mr Warburton and carried unanimously. Mr A. Williams presided. A large number of questions were tasked and answered satisfactorily. [bv TEEEOUAPH—PEI! PUEBS ASSOCfAIION]
