ftmiNCTON STORK MARKET. A LARGE ENTRY. (By Jolegraph.—Special to Cuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Hay. Jiessrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.—A small entry and the market was much firmer. Best shorn wethers up to 21s 2d. best shorn hoggets 13s Gd to 15s 9d. best shorn ewes and lambs from 14s Gd to 19s. wethers and hoggets in the wool from lGs to 20 s Gd.
Store cattle.—A fairly largo yarding in this department and the quality nil round, showed an imnrovemont on recent sales. Any well grown good condition cattle met with a good demand, hut younger sorts, especially yearlings and heifers wore hard to sell. Best 4vear old steers CG 15s to £7 10s. 3-vr ditto C 3 15s to £4 ss. 18-mos to 2-yr old -IDs to 455. best 3-vr heifers to £4 10s. 18-mos to 2-yr ditto 35s to •50s, yearlings to 32s Gd. cows 35s to 50s.
Beef.—A smaller yarding than the Inst few weeks and as butchers were apparently hare of supplies, the market opened considerably firmer than last sale, hut receded somewhat as it progressed. However there was a better sale throughout showing an average rise of 20s to 25s per head. Prime steers £l2 10s to £l4 10s, extra to £l6 15s; medium Cl 5 5s to £l2 ss; others CG 10s to £10; prime heifers £B.los to £frlos, a pen of extra making £lO ss; o-thwrs ,C sto £8 ss. Best vows £5 10s to C ss: others £3 to £5.
Fat pigs.—A large entry, :m oversupply of heavy hat-oners. The market for same was lifeless. Weights that meet with the readiest sale are from 120 to 150 lhs and growers of heavy weights must be prepared to aec-ept lower rates. Haveners, 57s Od to £0 10s. heavy £3 5s to £3 12s, averagepiiee Od to Gild. Porkers.—A largo yarding and the demand was week. Medium 40s to 455, heavy 47s Od to 52s Od.
Choppers.—A large entry and the (k> niand weak. Prices £2 10s to 03 10s.
Store pigs.—A large yarding and an excellent sale. The demand was very keen .'with prices well above Into rates. Hat-oners 17s to 245. extra good ten 295; small stores 28s to 80s Od; medium 38s to 445. Sows in pig to £3 10s. .. , Mutton.—A fairly huge- yarding, but the quality was very indifferent except in a few cases. Owing to butchers being short of supplies the market opened firmer than hist sale, but eased oil' as it progressed and generally speaking showed little difference to last sale. Ewes wore in bigger supply. hub not many woolly sheep were varded. Prime wethers 28s to 325, a few extra, to 355, medium 25s to 27s Od lighter 23s to 24s Od. prints ewes 23s Od to 28s, extra to ,3415, medium 20s to 235, lighter His Od to 19s.
