Activity among the coastal steamers is increasing. The following sailings are anticipated:—lnvercargill lor Wanganui, Hnwera for Paten, AVairau for Blenheim; AVainui for Picton. all to-day. Kapiti for Wanganui, .and Knrapuui for Patea to-morrow. If the Wakatu comes from Lyttelton to-night sho will return ou Saturday. The position now is that regular services have been established between Wellington and the principal parts of the northern part of the South Island, though less frequent than usual. The Nikau to Nelson is running three return trips wuekly. The AVainui is expected to make' regular runs to Picton.
