Paddy’s Market.
At the third time of asking the management of Paddy’s Market struggled through the event yesterday afternoon —although the weather turned out very unfavorably for an outdoor gathering. Bain set in about one o’clock, and from a little drizzle it developed by 3 o’clock into something more persistent. The cycling competitors all turned up, and at 2 o’clock it was deeded to run oft’ the cycling and athletic events, the officials also being on the gr ;iiml. The attendance of adults was "not huge, hut at ‘-'.30 there was a large influx of school children, the juveniles being released from studies at that hour. The two principal bicycle races were good events, and the primary schools relay race caused much excitement among the juveniles. A “mugs” bicycle race was a very well contested event. The ladies cycling race fell through for the want of comp?titors. _ The lady stallholders were all at the posts, anil had good displays of goods both useful and beautiful. The refreshment roam was a pleasant u.*treat from ll’e damp outside, and was well patronised. The sweets stall was also not neglected by the young folk, cud there was a good deal of animation about the whole proceedings. Mr f-'tav.loy conducted a clock golf competition. votaries ignoring the weather conditions. Altogether a couple of busy hours passed and the financial result under the circumstances and for the small attendance was quite surprising. The receipts were over £l2 for the day.

Time 3min 50 4-5 secs. 3 Miles Cvcle Handicap—A. George (scr.) 1. K. Best (200yds) 2, W. Gooch (340yds) 3. Eight started. The scratch man made a good position and won comfortably at the call.
