AVylie, C. Sherman, H. Perry, E .Hughes, H. S. Stavely, E. Robinson, L. Dale, F. AlcCaskill' and Master J. At. Staveley.
A meeting of the Robert Burns Alemorial Committee was held last evening. Present: —Alessrs G. Davidson, (Chair), H. A. Thompson, F. McGregor, .J.’ King, and D. J. Evans. An apology was made for the absence of AL A. AVognn. The Secretary reported that the total contributions to date were £307 12s 9d. A further £7O were required. AL Thompson reported the memorial was expected to reach here about February at- the earliest, ns there had been some delay jn the execution of the statue; It was resolved to hold a Scottish gathering on St. Andrew’s Night (November 30th) and the Secretary was instructed to make the necessary arrangements. It is hoped, also to arrange for a Scottish concert on New Year’s night, fn aid of the fund. The memorial is to he placed in Cass Square. The United Football Club’s ball in the Opera House last evening proved very enjoyable. The heavy downpour -of rain that A-11 affected the attendance considerably, but otherwise the gathering proved a distinct success. The hall had been very prettily decorated with flags, greenery and l»aIloons, while the floor was in perfect order. Capital music was provided byMessrs Reynolds (piano) C, Ross, (violin). C. Gibbons (piccolo) and AA*. Ross (cornet), a number of extras being played by Misses. King and Bergstrom. All- Andrews had charge of the floor. The Ladies’ Committee (Mosdames Alor-'an. Butland and Hunter) had provided a specially attractive supper which was fully appreciated. During an interval Air D. J. Evans (President of the Club); returned thanks on bc- . half of the Club for the substantial actendance present in spite of the . thcr conditions, and to the Ladies Committee for their valued assistance. I He announced that a juvenile dance i would he held on Friday evening when I they hoped to see many country I friends present whom the elements had prevnted from attending that evening.
